This decade is marked by major innovations. For its range of air turbines and motors, Bien-Air launches the UNIFIX quick-connect coupling rotating through 60°. An improvement greatly appreciated by dental surgeries, universally recognised for its reliability and the time saving it provides. Another ingenious creation is lighting by interchangeable krypton bulb, placed in the handle of TRAPLITE turbines and on the front of the ISOLITE electric motor. To channel the light to the instrument, turbines and contra-angles are provided with flexible optical fibres. In another significant breakthrough, the electric motors of this period are provided with electronics systems that already control very low speeds (60 rpm). Laboratory technicians likewise benefit from the reliability and solidity of the systems produced by Bien-Air, which develops separate lines for them. The TD and TDS turbines, controlled by different control units, provide them with a high-precision tool for very delicate work. The TECHNOBOX control unit, for its part, provides the instrument with a broad speed range and great power, thanks to the MC40 GTAV self-ventilated motor. At this time, Bien-Air also performs joint work with world-renowned ENT surgeon Professor Ugo Fisch. With his help, a comprehensive system is developed, comprising a foot control, a rugged and dependable electric motor, a selection of specific handpieces and a range of burs for microsurgery.
