1965 1965 First Bien-Air turbine manufactured industrially, the Gyro Long-Life is fitted with hard-metal air-bearings. It is the most reliable and durable handpiece in the world. 1970 First modern electric dental motor, rotating at 20,000 rpm in both directions.
1978 Creation of the Unifix connector, which ensures perfect interchangeability of turbines and air motors. 1981 Invention of the first device with electric motor and foot control intended for ENT procedures, in cooperation with Professor U. Fisch from the University Hospital of Zurich, Switzerland.
1979 Sales release of the table-top air-driven unit for laboratory S 791, with the TD 783 turbine.
Sales release of the first shaping system for ENT surgery under the name Fisch Drill
1980 Sales release of the first handpiece for stapedotomy under the name PM 111 Dr. Causse.
1981 Sales release of the laboratory device Technobox equipped with an electric motor.
Sales release of the wall-mounted air-driven unit for laboratory SF 811.
1984 Introduction of the push-button bur changing mechanism on the Black-Pearl and Ondine turbines. 1986 New MC2 electric motor family, rotating at 40,000 rpm. First electro-pneumatic control for electric motors. 1990 Unveiling of the Croma turbine family. New concept with a single handle adapted to three different turbine heads.
1990 Sales release of the table-top air-driven unit with spray for laboratory STS 890.
1993 Sales release of two new handpieces for ENT surgery under the names PMRM and PMAM.
1994 Sales release of the new pedal for ENT surgery under the name ORL-E-92.
1995 Introduction of monobloc optical glass rods resistant to the repeated sterilization operations undergone by its lighted handpieces.
1996 Introduction of the MC3 motor, of smaller diameter and offering more power than the MC2 series.
1998 Launch of the programmable Chiropro implantology system with autoclavable motor and cable. The very rugged Basch brushless motor offers a continuously adjustable high torque.
2001 Founding of the specialist companies Bien-Air Dental SA and Bien-Air Surgery SA.
2002 Launch of the new Optima T+R electronic control unit, ideal low-cost way of converting an old air-driven system into a multifunctional system with an entirely new level of performance capability.
2003 Simplification of the turbine range. Bora provides power and robustness, while Prestige, with a reduced head size, is ideally suited for very delicate work.
2004 Sales release of the new shaping system for ENT surgery under the name OSSEODOC.
Introduction of the Optima MX, a compact solution allowing professionals to perform all their procedures at high speed or low speed, including endodontics, with only two contra- angles. Five programmable memories facilitate operation of the Optima MX, the first control unit fitted with the powerful MX motor, brushless and without sensors, autoclavable and insensitive to fluid infiltration.Transfer of electric motor production to Noirmont, in the Jura. Optimization of the production line.
2005 MX, the new autoclavable high-performance motor, is combined with the DMX electronic kit. This control, which can be incorporated in existing units, makes the very latest technology available to the integrators and manufacturers of dentists' chairs. New Laboratory line consisting of two practical, ergonomic control units. Prolab and Prolab Basic now include the most powerful motor on the market, derived from the revolutionary MX micromotor.
2006 Launch of the new Eolia® entry-range turbine and of the new straight HP 1:2 handpiece with external spray and speed increasing ratio of 2. It is used for restoration and implantology work and for extracting wisdom teeth.
2007 OPTIMA MX INT offers the same benefits as OPTIMA MX while being integratable into existing chairs. A new, very easy and instinctive navigation system and pre-recorded programmes distinguish it from the table-top version.
Sales release of the first shaver for ENT under the name OSSEODUO.
2009 The spring of 2009 sees the advent of top-of-the-range turbines, with a carbon-fibre handle.
With numerous improvements offering unique ergonomics, CHIROPRO-L, for its part, introduces a new generation of implantology systems.
The young Laboratory Division becomes Bien-Air Laboratory in 2009.
It meets the expectations of dental technicians faced with increasingly high aesthetic and economic demands. Bien-Air Laboratory proposes a CAD/CAM system consisting of CNC machines, an imprint scanner and flexible, user-friendly software.
